Visiting Wensum Park in Norwich

If you’re looking for a peaceful green space to escape the hustle and bustle of Norwich, then Wensum Park is the perfect destination. This beautiful park is located in the NR3 area of the city, just down the road from Williams’ Kitchen and Explorers Soft Play.

History of Wensum Park

According to Historic England, Wensum Park first begun it’s development in the early 20th Century. It used to be home to a swimming bath, bathing pool, wading pool, and shelter, all of which were completed by 1910. However, in 1925, it was open to the public as a public park for all to access.

Visiting Wensum Park

Wensum Park is situated on the banks of the River Wensum, which is a great place for a picnic or a riverside walk. It is a perfect place to relax, take a stroll, and admire the natural beauty of the park.

For families and children

Whether your children love feeding the ducks, or exploring nature, there are plenty of things to keep them busy. It’s the perfect sunny afternoon adventure for families with a large play area available.

Whether you’re looking for a cheap day out for kids in Norwich, or fancy a relaxing stroll with friends, you can head to Wensum Park. It’s also perfect to take a takeaway coffee and cake from Williams’ Kitchen, or come afterwards and enjoy lunch or soft play.

Welcome to Williams’ Kitchen, where every sip and bite supports a good cause! The profits we make go to support the work of YMCA Norfolk. Their mission is to inspire young people to discover their potential so that they can live life in all its fullness.

They provide accommodation and support to help vulnerable people towards independent living whilst also providing training and opportunities for young people to progress. By choosing to enjoy your coffee, pastry, or sandwich here, you are not only treating yourself to delicious food and drinks, but also making a positive impact on someone else’s life.

We also believe that our cafe can be a hub for social change and community, which is why we’re part of YMCA Community Hub on Aylsham Road. Within the hub is Muddy Puddles Nursery, which is a 90 place nursery for children aged 3 months to 5 years; as well as, Williams’ Kitchen and Explorers Soft Play. The community hub is used for children’s parties, business meetings, youth groups, and so much more.

With many people coming to our wonderful cafe and wondering what coffee to order, we thought we’d make it simple. Here’s our guide of the different coffees we serve…

Espresso

Espresso is a concentrated coffee shot with a rich, intense flavour. It’s usually served in a small demitasse cup and consumed quickly.

Americano

An Americano is most similar to coffee you would drink at home. It is simply an espresso shot diluted in hot water. It’s usually served in a larger cup than espresso and can be enjoyed with milk or sugar.

Latte

A latte is made with espresso and steamed milk. It’s typically served in a tall glass and can be flavoured with syrups like vanilla or caramel. A latte has a smooth, creamy texture and is often topped with frothed milk.

Cappuccino

A cappuccino is similar to a latte, but with less milk and more foam. It’s made with equal parts of espresso, steamed milk, and frothed milk, and served in a smaller cup than a latte. The foam on top is often dusted with cocoa powder

Flat White

A flat white is a coffee drink that is made with espresso and steamed milk, but with less foam than a cappuccino. It has a smooth, velvety texture and is often served in a small cup. It often has a stronger tasting coffee shot in than a latter or cappuccino.

Mocha

A mocha is a coffee-based drink made with espresso, steamed chocolate-flavoured milk. Mochas are served hot in a mug and are a popular treat for coffee lovers with a sweet tooth.

Whether you prefer a strong espresso, a creamy latte, or a sweet mocha, there’s a coffee drink out there for everyone. So next time you’re at Williams’ Kitchen, or while the kids are in Explorers Soft Play, try something new made using Costa Coffee beans and syrups.
